Sports Meet of the persons with special needs

The prime objective of this exercise is to provide maximum possible opportunities in the sphere of sports for the most lowly social beneficiaries and the most lowest recipients of social opportunities from among the persons with special needs in the Western Province. This tournament conducted for the persons with special needs in the Western Province has been divided into five age groups that could take part in 15 categories of persons with disabilities. The application forms for this purpose have been dispatched to the Social Service Officers of the Divisional Secretariats and such forms of application have to be handed back to the Social Service Officer himself/herself.

Age Groups

  1. Preliminary junior group below 12 years of age
  2. Junior group over 12 years and below 15 years of age
  3. Senior group over 15 years and below 18 years of age
  4. Senior group over 18 years of age
  5. Open group  (No age limit)

Categories of disabilities

  1. Totally blind (B1)
  2. Slightly visually impaired (B2)
  3. Hearing deficiencies / Speech deficiencies (DEAF)
  4. Mentally retarded (MR)
  5. Mental Diseases (over 18 years)
  6. Autism (Auti)
  7. Lifeless below waist line, One leg not owned and the other leg lifeless, Both the legs not owned.
  8. One leg not owned above knee joint (A/K)
  9. One leg not owned below knee joint (B/K)
  10. Both the legs not owned below knee joint (W/K)
  11. Only one leg lifeless (O/L)
  12. One hand lifeless below or above elbow (O/H)
  13. Bothe hands not owned or lifeless (W/H)
  14. Polio ( POLI )
  15. Persons of the body height below 145 cm (DWA) (Only for those over 18 years)

Sports Meet of the persons with special needs in the Western Province 2019

Arrangements have been made by the Department of Social Services of the Western Province to hold the annual Provincial Competition 2019 at the Sugathadasa Stadium on July 25, 2019. in a very grand scale for the seventh time with the objective of bringing forth the wholesomely robust community fostering the qualities such as capacity development, leadership, endurance, friendship, patience and solidarity in order to provide the persons with special needs in the Western Province a productive life improving their mental strength having identified their sporting skills.
