The Department of Social Service implements various projects to increase the level of income of the low income widows and the programme of ‘Wendambu Diriyamatha’ (Brave Widow) has been identified as one of such projects being implemented in parallel to the week of social benevolence. Arrangements have accordingly been made to conduct an entrepreneurial training programme at the Cultural Center Hall of the Divisional Secretariat of Kelaniya for a group from the district of Gampaha who has already ventured into self employment in a small scale aspiring for the need to uplift their self employment. It is also expected to provide facilities required to encourage them. After having identified the persons with potential to keep up with their self employment successfully following the training programme, focus will be directed to make way for them to reach out to necessary financial assistance, training and workshops needed to effectively carrying out their self employment as well as to have introduced the loan facilities required by them. And also, it is expected to take follow up action on the successful self employment of the selected group whilst conducting several training sessions for them on the areas of packaging, marketing, quality and standardization and rules and regulations involving business under this entrepreneurial training programme.
