It is apparent that the target groups receiving services from our Department is on the gradual   increase. It is also evident that there is a gradual increase in elders, helpless people in destitute and the birth of disabled children. It has been observed that the majority of women, approximately 90% of those who are particularly coming to the house of detention, Meth Sevana operated under the Vagrancy Ordinance has been subject to such a fate in view of the fact that they have not received the warmth, protection and affection of a mother in their homes. There is no much of a difference even in the scenario of the detainees in the certified schools coming under the purview of the Department of Probation. As such, it is an explicit fact that a virtuous generation sees its coming into being right from the womb of the mother.

• To prepare the mental background necessary for a virtuous delivery of a child.
• To reiterate the fact that the children are a valuable resource in the society.
• To inculcate spiritual development during the time of pregnancy of a mother as it is the best period of delicate sensitivity where such inculcation of virtuous attitudes in her is possible.

The proposed project of Ape Sonduru Pavula is expected to be carried out in the accompaniment of several features.  Accordingly, the program consists of the features such as the launching of the premiere of the short film that was created based on an year’s experience of the small group of women, Swashakthi following the said small group’s mobilization, the analytical look at of the experience they gained operating within the small group, the short lecture delivered by an expert in the related field on the putting into practice of the participatory development approach and its contemporaneous importance and the awarding of the gifts of mementoes to the target women. It is also hoped a musical miscellany being added to this event in harmony with this program featuring an ensemble of musicians in order to give the theme of the program an aesthetic outlook.  Arrangements have been made to conduct this program in the District Secretariat of Kalutara.
